課程概述 |
Course Description
In this course, a broad and holistic introduction to scientific translation will be provided. Texts taken from scientific articles pertaining to a variety of domains (biology, chemistry, physics, engineering and medicine) will be translated from English into Chinese and vice versa.

To examine and translate different types of scientific texts in English and Chinese.

Requirements:
Students will be able to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to deal with a wide range of scientific texts
develop a basic proficiency in written scientific translation from English into Chinese and vice versa
develop an understanding of how to manage terminological and other linguistic resources
exploit the internet as a translation resource
assess a scientific text in terms of target audience and register and choose the most appropriate translation strategy
perform terminological research and be familiar with scientific terminology
